The Forestiere Underground Gardens is a one-of-a-kind subterranean garden featuring a unique collection of native and non-indigenous plant life. Constructed by Baldassare Forestiere between 1906 and 1946, the gardens feature a number of built-in skylights and a complex irrigation system, as well as a charming collection of subterranean patios and grottos surrounding the artist's unique underground living space. The gardens lie approximately 10 miles northwest of downtown Fresno in Highway City.
